19th C. probably, Mexican retablo ex voto, folk art 150-250 painting on tin, which when painted tells the story of the sick or dying The painting was a way of expressing thanks for protection from a patron saint for answering their prayers. The painting is of a sick woman with Christ on the cross dying. there is a hole on the upper middle of painting probably to hang the ex-voto. Sight size 9”H x 14”W. |
